Wildanet Partners with VIAVI Solutions on network roll-out

Cornwall-based broadband provider Wildanet has announced a strategic partnership with global network testing and monitoring leader VIAVI Solutions.

This collaboration supports Wildanet’s work to bring fast, reliable internet to rural and hard-to-reach communities across Cornwall and the South West, furthering the company’s mission to close the digital divide in the region.

The partnership enables Wildanet to use VIAVI’s advanced testing and network monitoring tools, ensuring the broadband infrastructure delivers high-speed performance and remains resilient as it expands into remote communities.

VIAVI’s cutting-edge solutions allow Wildanet to detect and resolve any network issues quickly, guaranteeing customers consistent, high-quality internet connectivity.

Justin Clark, Wildanet’s Chief Operating Officer, said: “We are proud to be working with VIAVI as we work to bridge the digital divide, bring transformative connectivity to areas that were previously left behind and empower our communities with the tools they need to thrive."

"Our partnership with VIAVI allows us to leverage world-class technology and enhance the confidence we have that as we build our network we have that quality assurance built-in.”

Using VIAVI’s award-winning remote fibre test system, ONMSi, enables Wildanet to first verify the quality of its network as it is being built and then to monitor the fibre – allowing Wildanet engineers to respond quickly to the exact location of an issue, should one arise.

Dave Payne, Wildanet Head of Network Services, said: “The benefits are twofold. At the point of deployment, we can remotely test and validate the network. Once operational it allows us to monitor the network and if any issues arise, the system will tell us exactly where that is happening, allowing us to rectify the issue, often before customers have noticed there is a problem.”

Mike Fisher, Strategic Account Manager for VIAVI, said: “It has been an absolute pleasure working with Wildanet and supporting them to incorporate the VIAVI ONMSisystem into their processes.

“Wildanet is  passionate about ensuring that the quality of its network is the best it can be, to ensure that it delivers great customer service.”

Wildanet, founded in 2017 to bring high-speed internet to rural and hard-to-reach areas in the South West, is rapidly growing its Full Fibre broadband network in the region, transforming connectivity for communities where it operates.

Backed by specialist alternative asset manager Gresham House’s sustainable infrastructure strategy, with close to £100m invested since 2020, Wildanet has grown to become the largest AltNet (Alternative Network Provider) in Cornwall and a champion for digital inclusion locally and nationally. It is now a major regional employer, more than doubling its workforce in the last 18 months to over 220 staff as well as driving significant indirect economic activity and employment.
