Wildanet named a five-times finalist in the UK Fibre Awards

Wildanet is celebrating being shortlisted in no less that five categories in one of the UK’s premier awards for the digital and telecoms industry.

The company has been announced as a five-times finalist in the UK Fibre Awards, which each year recognises pioneering work in the roll-out of fibre in the UK, across a range of technical, business and achievement categories.

Wildanet will go head-to-head against other Alternative Network Providers (AltNets) and major national telecoms operators for the titles of:

  • Best Rural Fibre Provider
  • Best Sustainability Programme
  • Marketing Team of the Year
  • Sales/Commercial Team of the Year
  • Overall Fibre Provider of the Year

The winners will be announced at a gala event taking place on June 6 at the prestigious London Marriott Grosvenor Square Hotel.

Helen Wylde -Archibald, Wildanet CEO, said: “The competition for these awards is intense across the industry so it’s a huge tribute to the team to be shortlisted in five categories and a source of great pride to see the work that Wildanet is doing in Cornwall and Devon being recognised on a national stage.”

Wildanet’s success in the UK Fibre Awards comes hard on the heels of the company’s Chief People Officer, Julie-anne Sunderland, being named HR Leader of the Year at the recent Business Desk Leadership Awards South West.

Wildanet was founded in 2017 with a mission to extend high-speed broadband to hard-to-reach rural areas, bringing significant socio-economic benefits to communities and businesses, enabling them to be more sustainable, digitally connected and have easier access to essential online services.

In addition to the successful ongoing roll-out of its gigabit capable network in Cornwall and Devon, Wildanet has grown to become recognised regionally and nationally as a trusted and innovative business and community partner, thought leader and passionate advocate for digital inclusion.

The company’s commitment to sustainability and good practice has seen Wildanet become the first UK based AltNet to become a Certified B Corporation as well as being honoured with a number of major regional and industry awards. These include being named Most Sustainable Large Business at the Cornwall Sustainability Awards; winning the Sustainability Award at the Connected Britain Awards for its B-23 initiative; and a Cornwall Chamber of Commerce award for Greenest Business.
