Cornwall Christmas Fair raises £68k to support Cornish communities

Newquay Foodbank will be open two extra days a week in January, February, March and April, thanks to a donation from the Cornwall Christmas Fair which took place at the Eden Project in November.

Wildanet is proud to support this annual festive market which raised £68,000 for charities across Cornwall. As part of Wildanet’s sponsorship of the event, the famous biomes at Eden Project were lit up in Wildanet colours especially for the Christmas Market. As well as helping to extend Newquay Foodbank’s opening hours from three to five days week, the funds will support the Cornwall Community Foundation Surviving Winter Fund which helps some of the county’s most vulnerable residents stay warm. Other charities and community groups to benefit from the Fair include, WILD Young Parents Project, St Petrocs, The Women’s Centre Cornwall, Young & Talented Cornwall and WithYou drug and alcohol support.

The vital funds will be distributed through Cornwall Community Foundation and were raised through generous sponsorship, ticket sales and a percentage of takings from stallholders.

The annual event is organised entirely by volunteers. Committee Co-Chair, Kate Holborow, comments: “This year’s Cornwall Christmas Fair was a wonderfully sparkly event with over 60 market stalls, food and drink, and festivities. Thank you to everyone who came, shopped and helped make such a difference to communities across Cornwall.

“Winter is an especially difficult time so this money will make a direct and instant impact on people’s lives. It wouldn’t have been possible without the ongoing support of our wonderful sponsors, stallholders, Fair visitors and the Eden Project.”

The 2024 Cornwall Christmas Fair was sponsored and supported by: Lillicrap Chilcott, Wildanet, Rodda’s, Evelyn Partners, The Cornwall Bakery, Eden Project, Trevornick Holiday Park, Porthilly Spirit, Seasalt Cornwall, Baker Tom’s Bread, Stacks Property Search, Coodes Solicitors, Impress51, St Austell Printing Company, Jarrang, Truro High School, St Austell Brewery, The Old Ship Hotel and Wild Card.
