Upgrading the UK’s Digital Infrastructure

Gigabit Broadband Voucher Scheme

Helping us connect you and your community to high-speed broadband

Unlike other parts of the UK, Cornwall still has countless communities suffering from poor quality internet connection, making life harder for many families and businesses in these areas and putting them at a distinct disadvantage to the rest of the UK. Wildanet is working to change this.

We are a registered supplier with the government's Gigabit Broadband Voucher Scheme which is provided by the Department for Digital, Culture, Media, and Sport (DCMS). This scheme helps to cover the cost of installing gigabit broadband (speeds up to 1,000Mbps) direct to your front door.

By registering for a voucher and receiving broadband from Wildanet, you're helping yourself and your community benefit from improved internet speeds and reliability.

It’s simple. For every home or business that Wildanet connects in eligible areas, the Government pays a subsidy to help cover some of the costs of bringing our gigabit network to your community. The more vouchers that are claimed, the more funding becomes available, and the more people we can connect.

Wildanet claims the voucher from the government, which is what helps to subsidise the cost of rolling out the brand-new fibre broadband network.

Once you’ve signed up for a Wildanet connection we request the voucher from the government (the department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport, or DCMS, which administers the voucher scheme). They then check you’re happy to proceed and that our service is working as you expect, before releasing the funding to us.

It’s therefore really important that you follow the links in their emails when they arrive, because this is how we are able to cover the cost of bringing high speed broadband to your area. If we can’t claim the funding, it will limit our ability to roll-out our fibre broadband network to your community. So please help us to help connect you and your community by looking out for the emails from the Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS).

The funding your voucher provides enables us to bring a full fibre gigabit-enabled broadband connection to your community and right to your front door.

A gigabit connection is about 40 times faster than average internet speeds in Cornwall and will transform your connectivity.

Ordinarily, the costs associated with this have prevented such a network being installed sooner, which is why so many communities in Cornwall are still suffering with slow and unreliable broadband. Wildanet is working to change this. With this new funding, it means we’re able to install this brand-new digital infrastructure to your area, helping to ensure everyone can enjoy access to high speed broadband, wherever they live, benefitting many thousands of people for generations to come.

What Happens Next?

Once you have told us that you would like to benefit from the Gigabit Broadband Voucher Scheme – great, what happens next?

Agree your connection

Look out for the email from the Gigabit Voucher team at Digital, Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS). Make sure it doesn’t end up in your spam folder because until you agree the new connection, the team can’t issue your voucher. The email will come from gigabit.vouchers@notifications.service.gov.uk with a link to their website where you’ll find the scheme terms and conditions. If you confirm that you are happy with them they will confirm with Wildanet that they have issued a voucher for you.

Wait for connection

We will keep you informed about delivering your new service and will confirm when we have made the connection. As soon as you have a gigabit-capable broadband connection, we will inform the Gigabit Voucher team at Digital, Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS).

Validate your connection

Look out again for the second email from the Gigabit Voucher team from gigabit.vouchers@notifications.service.gov.uk because this time you will be asked to confirm that the new service has been connected and that you are happy with your new broadband speed. As soon as you have done this, the Gigabit Voucher team at Digital, Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS) will pay Wildanet the value of your voucher, which covers the cost of bringing the fibre service to your front door.

A final email from DCMS

You will receive one final email the Gigabit Voucher team at Digital, Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS) to confirm how much your voucher was worth. As a possible follow-up, the Gigabit Voucher team may ask if they can run a spot check on your connection a short time later.
