What better way to start the year than with an office sweepstake on the oldest national football competition in the world?

Of course, the esteemed competition began all the way back in August 2021, but the third round in January is the perfect time to start an F.A. Cup sweepstake as it’s when teams from the top two divisions enter the competition. With 64 clubs competing in the third round for a shot at glory, ranging from non-league minnows to Premier League big-guns, it’s anyone’s guess how far each team will go with each year producing its fair share of giant killings and shock results.

The great thing about doing an F.A. Cup office sweepstake is that it accommodates all sizes of sweepstake groups. Given the last time a team from outside of England’s top division won the competition was West Ham in 1980, it’s safe to say that you could easily distribute each Premier League team between 20 colleagues and end up with an outright winner. If there is a larger group that wants to get involved, you can work your way down the football pyramid to include the lower and non-league teams participating in the infamous third round ties. If no one draws the winner, the top prize should be awarded to the participant(s) who draw the team(s) that make it the furthest in the competition.

Why not get in on the glory and organise an F1 sweepstake? Depending on how many participants are involved, you might choose to organise a sweepstake on either the drivers championship or constructors championship.

Fear not if you draw a team or driver that hasn’t challenged at the front in recent years - the biggest technical regulation change since 2009 means it’s anyone’s guess who will have the most competitive package when the lights go out under the night sky in Bahrain come March.

The annual Grand National steeplechase held at Aintree Racecourse is an event that is prominent in British culture. So popular is the 7km race, that it is watched by many people who don’t normally watch or bet on horse racing at other times of the year. 40 horses make this a good office sweepstake opportunity if you have plenty of colleagues wanting to get involved, meaning the winners could walk away with a substantial prize.
