Wildanet WiFi lights up Padstow Christmas Festival

Wildanet has helped add some extra seasonal sparkle to the Padstow Christmas Festival by providing much-needed reliable WiFi coverage for the hugely popular event.

Now in its 16th year, the Festival is one of the most high-profile events in the Cornish Calendar and draws large crowds to Padstow’s harboursides and waterfront. It features more than 60 cookery demonstrations from a star-studded lineup of acclaimed chefs; food, drink and arts/craft traders; plus live music; community events; a lantern parade and firework display.

Wildanet deployed a team of its engineers, together with its specialist Mobile Communications Vehicle, to design and install a bespoke communications infrastructure for the event, providing reliable, high-speed broadband for the more than 100 trade stands.

Event organiser Tina Evans said the partnership with Wildanet had been transformational.

“We are delighted and thrilled to bits with the service we have had from Wildanet,” she said.

“We struggled in previous years, with large numbers of traders trying to use online payment services at the same time and suffering poor connectivity.

“This year everything is working perfectly. We haven’t had a single complaint from traders regarding WiFi and whole process with Wildanet has been seamless.”

Wildanet has a track record of providing internet connectivity for major events, recognising the growing need for comprehensive WiFi coverage to support traders and allow them to meet customers’ needs and process online payments. Earlier this year, a team of military veterans provided a similar service to trade stands and event communications right across Falmouth for the flagship Armed Forces Day National Event 2023.

At the Padstow Christmas Festival, Wildanet’s Mobile Communications Vehicle (MCV) allowed a dedicated wireless network of two high density access points (APs) to be deployed for traders inside the main 150m long tent. This gave them exclusive access to their own network so they were able to take constant payments on PDQ machines without worrying about a 4G signal which could be at risk of slowing down due to the huge number of event goers in the tent all using the local mobile mast.

Lawrence Palk, Director of B2B Sales for Wildanet, said: “Reliable connectivity has become a cornerstone for everyday life, and the social inclusivity it promotes is the driving force behind Wildanet’s mission and our network roll-out in Cornwall and Devon.

"At the same time we are really pleased to be able to bring our expertise to support major public events and we are very proud to be supporting the wonderful Padstow Christmas Festival by providing robust WiFi infrastructure.

“It is fantastic to hear how well the system is working and the difference that this has made to the experience of event organisers, traders and their customers.”
