Your questions answered

We're a new company so we understand you probably have questions about who we are and how we work! Here are some FAQs below - and if you'd like to know more, email us at hello@wildanet.com

How are you building a network I haven't seen your vans digging up the road?

Wildanet will, in the main, be using our network which runs through the air via interconnected wireless hubs to connect people to the internet. It's the cutting edge of technology and is more reliable than the old copper cable network

So how do you connect us to the internet?

Wildanet uses state of the art radio technology to connect our hubs to your premises.

Oh, so I have to have a Sky dish on my house?

No, our equipment is smaller than a Sky dish, it ranges from saucer sized up to serving plate (6' to just over 12', in extreme circumstance we could use an 18' receiver). We fit it in a position on your premises that allows the receiver to have line of sight to our hub. This can be on the wall or on a pole mounted to the wall or the chimney of your premises.

Is your wireless connection the same as the one my iPad and computer uses?

No, our radios use very different modulation and are not compatible. The router we fit does use normal WiFi and your devices connect to that.

Do I get WiFi?

Yes, the receiver on your wall will be connected by a cable to a router in your premises. The router provides WiFi for all your devices to connect to.

What do your connection speeds mean?

We use wireless technology to get the internet to you. That means that we can tell you how fast your internet is going to be and due to the way our technology works we can be confident in delivering super-fast reliable internet. Sending signals over the air can have downsides though, the most noticeable is the weather. If it's bad weather your speed may be affected.
